This should be a no-brainer. If public officials are working for the people, they should never be silenced by nondisclosure agreements about their official duties. HB 3030 simply says: You don’t get to serve the public and keep secrets from them. No elected or appointed official should be required or allowed to sign an NDA that limits transparency about government business. If it involves public office, public decisions, or public resources, the public has a right to know. This bill: ✔️ Strengthens transparency ✔️ Reinforces accountability ✔️ Protects whistleblowers and honest officials ✔️ Prevents backroom deals disguised as “confidentiality” It does not interfere with: Legitimate litigation strategy Truly personal or private matters unrelated to public office Existing public records laws or ethical safeguards Bottom line If lawmakers believe in: Open government Accountability Serving constituents over special interests HB 3030 should pass unanimously. Any opposition to this bill raises a simple question: What are they trying to hide?
