This legislation places the burden on government to supply storage. Any structure, building, or office space which is owned or leased by a city, town, county, state, or federal governmental uthority for the purpose of conducting business with the public. The provisions of this paragraph shall not apply to a structure, building, or office space which is owned or leased by a city, town, county, state, or federal governmental authority for the purpose of conducting business with the public where there is a peace officer certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training and a metal detector present at a security checkpoint. Handgun storage shall be provided outside of such buildings and signage must be posted prohibiting the carry of firearms in such buildings.
