Oklahomans should not need government permission to do a private fireworks display on their own property when there is no burn ban in effect. “Public safety” is too often the excuse for more control, more restrictions, and more treating citizens like they’re ignorant. We already know fire is a risk — same with grills, smokers, fire pits, and burn barrels. That’s why burn bans exist. Common sense should still count for something. Government needs to quit infantilizing the people it is supposed to serve.
